withwood-childrenThe name ‘University of Withywood’ originates from our founder Anton Bantock’s home in Withywood, south Bristol, United Kindom. After early retirement from teaching, he turned his small bungalow into an open house where leactures, talks and local events took place. This evolved over the years and all the money raised went to into the Sponsorship Fund.

In 2004 Anton was awarded an MBE for his charitable and community work in Bristol and abroad, namely helping those less fortunate gain an education. Since Anton’s passing in 2015, this body of work has become his legacy.

In 2018 a new road was named after him “Anton Bantock Way” in Withywood. And in 2019 a community group was founded in his honour www.facebook.com/universityofwithywoodthemusical

His artwork in also now available under one roof: www.instagram.com/antonbantockartwork
